My 94 year old neighbor still drives a car, takes herself grocery shopping, tends her garden, and takes the time out to welcome new neighbors to the neighborhood.
She made me cookies, but had to leave them on my porch because I wasn’t home, so she took the initiative again and clipped “the prettiest peonies [she] could find in [her] whole garden,” just to make me feel welcomed and loved.
Well, precious soul, mission accomplished.
This was such a reminder that being thoughtful is often a form of loving sacrifice. To love well, takes time, and commitment, and persistence. I hope I am as persistent with love at 94 as this dear woman is.
